Year R

Year R's lessons balance teacher-directed and child-led learning

After starting the year with a unit on 'Starting School', our Year R children move on to learn about animals.

Some children made binoculars and searched for jungle animals. Other children looked at a map to see where the animals came from.

Later in the year, the children study different celebrations in a unit called 'Let's Celebrate'. They have great fun finding out about how people in different countries celebrate festivals. They even do some of their own celebrating.

Here you can see some children are wrapping presents they have made ready for a birthday party! It's party time in the role play area and some of the children have even dressed up and put hats on

The children also get chance to go outside and learn. Some of the children practise their balancing skills on our trapezing wall.
